The European Swimming League (LEN) has officially named Rome the capital of the 2022 European Aquatics Championships.
The 36th European Championship will be held in Rome for the second time after the 1983 tournament.
Competitions will be held from August 11 to 21. It is expected that more than 1,500 athletes from 52 countries will take part in the competition, and high-diving will be included in the tournament program for the first time.
Earlier, a member of the LEN bureau Alexei Vlasenko said that at the last meeting of the league it was decided to host the Euro 2020 in Budapest, the Euro 2022 in Rome, and the 2024 championship in Russia, and Kazan or Nizhny Novgorod could be the venue.
